Tears to Hope Relay 2019
In 2019, the Tears to Hope Society was formed, with a plan to raise more awareness. The annual Tears to Hope relay was created for those who want to heal from their trauma, run towards a hopeful future of no violence against women and for allies to run alongside us for the same cause. Through the support and training from iSPARC, the Tears to Hope Society coordinated their first 10km relay in June 2019. Every 10km along the Highway of Tears was marked by the photo of a missing or murdered Indigenous woman, to remind the runner why they are running. With a total of 56 runners, the relay was a success, ending with a 1 km march to the National Indigenous People's Day celebration at George Little Park in Terrace and a large celebratory dinner.
